2008 HVFG Membership Campaign Kickoff: By Kevin Becker
Once again our yearly membership drive will run from December 1st through March 31st. Membership donations are essential in order to support key infrastructure expenses such as this newsletter, liability insurance, equipment maintenance and seed money for new events. Our HVFG membership drive is a low key, grass roots approach where people join and renew for no other reason other than they simply want to support a community organization that encourages self actualization and live music new and old as well as professional and amateur. So please, if you feel what we do is worthwhile, please renew your membership by March 31 as that is when we take our “point in time” measurement. The Hudson Valley Folk Guild was formed in July 1979. It is a member-run nonprofit corporation dedicated to the following goals:
1) To generate and maintain community interest in folk music
2) To provide community service through performing for nonprofit and charitable organizations
3) To give its performing members the opportunity to develop their talents through community performance.
HUDSON VALLEY FOLK GUILD FACTS: 1) Going strong going on 28 years
2) Over 460 members
3) The longest continuous running open stage in the Hudson Valley since July 1979
4) Over 100 practicing musicians
5) Over 30 of our members have produced professional recordings (CDs)
6) Our membership has grown for the past 20 consecutive years (no formal membership prior)
7) Over 2,500 people attend 48 performances each year
8) Our bi-monthly newsletter is sent to more than 1,000 households
9) We are a Dutchess County Arts Council member organization
10) We are a member organization of the North American Folk Alliance
As always, we appreciate your continuing support of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild as it continues to grow and accomplish its (our) goals! All membership contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
