Scott AlarikFriday, October 10, 8 p.m. |
Friends of Fiddler’s Green concerts welcomes back Boston performer, Scott Alarik, with his rich rumbling voice, delightfully wry wit, precise finger-picking and his own traditional-sounding topical and story songs, as well as traditional songs and ballads. Now principal folk music writer of the Boston Globe, Alarik was a regular on “A Prairie Home Companion,” in the 80's, inspiring Garrison Keillor to comment, “I have rarely seen an audience in such a good mood as when he’s just been there.”

Short SistersFriday, November 7, 8 p.m. |
The Short Sisters, Fay Baird, Kate Seeger, and Kim Wallach have been singing and performing together since 1979. Though they are not really sisters, and not particularly short, they do sound like sisters and share a delight in harmony. The songs chosen by the trio tell stories and paint pictures, conveying strong visual images through music. They favor a capella arrangements but also accompany themselves with guitar, autoharp and banjo.
